Currency Exchange

The currency in Austria is Euro. Exchange offices and banks apply cheaper rates than hotels and restaurants, who generally impose a surcharge.

Most banks open Monday-Friday 8am-3pm (some till 5pm). Many exchange offices in central locations in the city are open until late at night, for instance those in Karntner Strasse, at the Westbahnhof, the Sudbahnhof and on Schwechat Airport.

You can change money at:

Banks: Mo, Tu, Wed, Fr 8 a.m.-3 p.m., Thurs. 8 a.m.-5.30 p.m., some branches close from 12.30 p.m.-1.30 p.m.

or daily at Currency Exchange offices, for example at:
The West Train Station, 7 a.m.-10 p.m.
The South Train Station, May-Oct. 6.30 a.m.-10 p.m., Nov-April 6.30 a.m.-9 p.m.
The airport: arrivals 8.30 a.m.-11.30 p.m., departures 6.30 a.m.-9 p.m.
The City Air Terminal Mo-Fr 8.30 a.m.-1.30 p.m. and 2 p.m.-6 p.m., Sat. and Sun. 8.30 a.m.-1.30 p.m.
